| Wood Pet Urns The death of a pet can be a painful experience as one remembers the love and cherished experiences spent together. The grieving and healing process can be aided with pet cremation urns, keepsakes and other memorials that pay tribute to the memory of your beloved pet. This form of tribute can be kept forever and meant to bring fond memories every time you look at it. Personalized pet urns tend to bring to mind metal ones that have the personalized words engraved onto the metal. However, becoming very popular these days are wood pet urns which can also be personalized. The wood urn can have the name of the pet and the date of passing as well as additional information such as the year of birth or a phrase that memorializes the pet. Such information is usually engraved on a metal plate that is placed on the urn. A photograph of your pet can also be included on the urn itself. Hand painted pictures from photographs can be placed on wood pet urns as well. The picture is painted on a thin piece of wood and then placed in an oval. Wood pet urns can also use laser engraving to carve the photographs of pets into the urn itself. This is a very attractive and artistic way in which to memorialize a pet that may be of a more permanent and lasting nature. Wood pet urns come in many different styles. Some are simple boxes and others are more unique, taking on different shapes and colors. Wood pet urns also come in different sizes to hold the smallest pet as well as larger ones. Small wood pet urns are best for pets under twenty pounds, medium wood pet urns for pets between twenty and fifty pounds and large wood pet urns for pets weighing over fifty pounds. Inside each urn is a plastic bag that holds the remains of the pet. Some wood pet urns are plain on the inside while others can be lined with satin. Furthermore, a lock and key can be added to the urn. Popular woods for pet urns include oak, walnut, natural cherry, and dark cherry. If you plan to laser engrave your wood pet urn, then natural cherry provides the clearest picture with the most contrast while walnut also provides a clear picture with less contrast. Dark cherry and oak wood pet urns are not used for laser engraving. Regardless of which type of wood pet urn you choose for pet, the urn will serve to memorialize your pet and keep its memories alive for many years to come. |
